The number of people affected by allergies is on the rise in the U.S. and indeed in much of the world, so it's only natural that allergies loom larger than ever in the public consciousness. Increased awareness about allergies is indubitably a good thing, but it also leads many non-allergic people to believe they have allergies they don't really have or to confuse other conditions with allergy. Hence this page about Red Wine Headache (RWH), a condition which probably isn't an allergic (immune-mediated) response, but which many people assume is an allergy. This page makes a good attempt at untangling fact from fiction, a feat which isn't exactly easy given the limited current knowledge about RWH. So does this page really belong on WEGO's alcohol allergy page? Apparently no one knows for sure.
This article goes over the possible causes of Red Wine Headache. It also states that it is probably not a true allergy and that is good for those who suffer from RWH to know. Since no one knows for sure what causes the RWH the article never really completes the topic, but it does give you a good place to start.
