Well, I have a feeling that others will really find this video compelling. There's a tiny bit of useful information, and they're basically asking that more money be spent to address food allergy in children, which is obviously a great cause. But from the ominous music to the dire proclamations of some very agitated people, this video is 12 minutes of very slickly presented scare tactics. Watching this video you get the impression that food allergies are far more common than they are, and that a child with a food allergy cannot grow up to be "normal" and successful. While the concern over the increase in food allergies certainly has merit--food allergies are more prevalent now than ever before--the notion that kids with food allergies will never be able to reach their full potential is false, harmful, and, darn it, insulting. And yes, food allergies can be very, very dangerous, but the fear and anxiety this type of rubbish is bound to inspire in parents may be, overall, far more harmful.
